This concert video captures a performance by the performance-art trio the Blue Man Group recorded in 2008 on the group's How to Be a Megastar Tour. With the whole show satirically modeled as a how-to program for would-be rock stars, expanding the joke that they first created with their Complex Rock Tour. The evening includes musical performances interspersed with instructions on how to become an irresponsible, totally narcissistic superstar. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide

This special presentation offers all the remaining footage from Jimi Hendrix's incendiary appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. Hendrix classics such as "Hey Joe" and "Purple Haze" are delivered in crystal clear sound and vision, with Eddie Kramer (who was Hendrix's original engineer) breathing new life into the audio with a new mix. LIVE AT MONTEREY does, of course, feature the most iconic image of Hendrix's career, as his performance reaches a crescendo and the young musician sets fire to his instrument, firmly sealing his place as one of the greatest rock & roll musicians of all time. This program features some eye-catching additional material for Hendrix completists, with two documentaries included--one on Hendrix's remarkable rise to fame and the other on the Monterey Festival itself. Also included are a few early clips of the talented star playing in England circa 1967.

Nine o'clock on Monday morning, August 18, 1969: while the work force was starting the day, Jimi Hendrix was taking the stage at Woodstock. While hundreds of thousands had already left, 25,000 people remained to see this incredible performance. Hendrix, along with drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox, offered masterly renditions of the songs of the recently disbanded Experience ("Hey Joe," "Foxey Lady"), and gave a preview of the blues-based Band of Gypsys ("Izabella," "Hear My Train A Comin'"), as well as Jimi's era-defining rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner." Though the weekend had witnessed some landmark performances by other great artists, this performance from Hendrix is regarded by many as the defining moment in a festival ripe with defining moments.
