What do you get a newly ordained member of the
clergy? We suggest the following gift ideas for clergy celebrating
ordinations or anniversaries (or any other event)!
While clergy shirts or vestments may seem like a good
idea, clothing is a very personal choice and many priests may prefer to puchase
their own clergy shirts and clerical collars. A chasuble or alb would probably
be best avoided as local conditions may dictate what the clergy wear. That heavy
wool chasuble that seemed perfect for Northern Wisconsin, might not be enjoyed
if the pastor finds himself moving to South Florida. We suggest getting your
favorite clergyman something they will use in their ministry for a
long, long time. Pyxs make excellent clergy gifts because they are small and

favorite as these are small and easily carried. If you want a clergy gift that

Many priests and clergy appreciate having their own
chalice. You can spend around $350 to $750 for a really nice, 24k gold
plated chalice, or if you are so inclined, up to four or five thousand for
a gold-plated, hand made sterling silver chalice. Any of the metal items can be
engraved, but this takes time so plan accordingly. Also, keep in mind the
denominational requirements of the clergy. You would not want to get a Baptist
pastor a mass kit or a Catholic priest a set of hip-waders for the baptism pool.
