About transferring your Dell
laptop's warranty When most people buy a new Dell laptop
computer, they also get a warranty with their purchase. Then,
if that person that bought the laptop decides to sell their
Dell laptop and the warranty is still valid, they can also
sell and transfer the warranty to the new owner of the
computer. This common act of transferring a warranty can take
days to complete, but is worth the time put into the transfer.
There are a couple of different reasons people would want to
transfer the warranty. The first being that you've sold your
computer to a new owner and are also including the warranty
for the Dell laptop in the sale. The other reason you might
want to transfer the warranty for your Dell laptop is that you
have purchased a new Dell laptop and want to give your newer
computer the warranty you have already purchased. (In order to
do this, please check the Dell ahead of time in order to
ensure that the warranty is transferable to your newer Dell
purchase.)
There are a few
things you must do before you make the dell
laptop warranty transfer. You need to make sure you have
registered the laptop before the warranty transfer, then you
must have the Service Tag and Express Service Code. (If you do
not have these, contact Dell customer support and they can
help you locate these items.) Next, log into Dell.com and find
the section "OWNERSHIP TRANSFER". This area will lead you step
by step in the warranty transfer process. The transferring of
the warranty will not cost you a thing! It is completely free
to transfer the warranty of your Dell laptop to another owner.
The only drawback of the entire process is that the online
transfer of the warranty can take up to ten business days for
the entire process to complete. For those individuals that do
not have internet access, but need to transfer your warranty
to another party, contact Dell Customer Service and they will
lead you through the process. It might take longer then if
were to have completed the process online, but the same
results are achieved either way.
