Are your dell
laptop speakers not working? There are several
factors involved here and it would be best to begin with the
simplest one.
First, check to make sure your drivers are installed
correctly. If you
have windows you can go to device manager, locate the sound
icon and confirm that the driver is correctly installed. The problem may be
that the driver is corrupted and you will need to remove the
driver and install the correct one. You can find all
drivers associated with your Dell laptop by going to dell.com
and search for drivers by laptop model or service tag. If you do not know how
to get your service tag information, all you have to do is
enter into setup when you first turn on your notebook. In the BIOS you will
be able to find the service tag number that corresponds to
your laptop. Once
you have verified that your sound drivers are properly
installed also check for volume. Yes, as simple as this
may sound you’d be surprised how many users forget they have
their speakers on mute.
If you still do not get any sound and your dell laptop
speakers are not working, you can boil the problem down to two
minor and major things.
The minor problem could be
your speakers may need to be replaced. This involves
disassembly of the notebook so make sure you know what you are
doing or have a professional do this for you. There are several
places Dell would install their laptop speakers; some are
integrated into the sides of the palm rest, below or around
the LCD screen, although most are directly in front of the
mouse pad.
Whichever the case may be, if you are doing the install
on your own you will want to access the speakers and find the
part number. You
will see a bar-coded label with a series of numbers. These numbers identify
the speakers that fit into your notebook. If you need help in
identifying the part number or would like some assistance,
please contact us.
Once you replace your speakers it should solve the
problem with regards to sound. Now, there are rare instances
where neither the drivers install nor speaker replacements
solve the problem.
If this is the case, there could be damage to the
speaker connector on the motherboard. This would require
board level repair or a complete motherboard replacement. Please contact us if
you have any questions, our staff is willing and able to
assist you in any way possible. | |
