Description: Soft yellow moon rises over the silhouette of pine trees--lighting up the new spring blossoms of the cherry trees. Done in aquas and blues with cherry blossoms in light gray, white, pink and darket blue. Medium blue mottled border.
In Japan, cherry trees, which bloom for only a week each spring, are synonymous with the transitory nature of life itself and the brief duration of youthful beauty. Cherry blossom viewing (hanami) is the main event of spring. Pokkari is the image of the moon coming out from behind a cloud reminiscent of this scene where the moon is rising above the pine trees.
Our horizontal size wall hangings (wide) are usually made from tenugui that are printed horizontally so the panel is wider than it is long. They are machine quilted, hand-guided, using two layers of low loft polyester batting to provide added depth and dimension.
