CCTV CAMERAS WITH WIDE DYNAMIC
Wide dynamic range enables a camera to see image’s characters in a very strong contrast.
The dynamic range of a WDR camera is dozens of times wider than the one of a traditional camera with 3:1 dynamic range. Natural light arrangement is from 120,000Lux to starlight 0.00035Lux at night. When a camera looks out of a window from indoor, the indoor illumination is 100Lux, the outside scenery illumination might be 10,000Lux, and the contrast is 10,000/100=100:1. It’s easy for human eyes to see this contrast, because human eyes can handle 1000:1 contrast, however, it’s a big problem for a traditional CCTV camera to deal with it. A traditional camera only has 3:1 contrast function, it can only choose 1/60sec electronic shutter to obtain the right exposure of indoor objects, but will clear all outdoor images (all white). Or change another way, a camera selects 1/6000sec to obtain outdoor image perfect exposure, but will clear indoor images (all black). This is a flaw existing for a long time since a camera was invented.
