DESCRIPTION: Tiger Maple (Curly Soft Maple); creamy white & has a wavy, or "curly" grain. It is a bit less lustrous than Hard Maple & growth rings are comparatively indistinct. Rays are narrower than in Hard Maple. Weight varies from about 30lbs to 35lbs per cu. ft. COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: North America BOTANICAL NAME: Acer Saccharum WORKING PROPERTIES: Can be worked fairly well with hand & power tools, although has moderate dulling effect on cutters. Takes nails satisfactorily with care. Gluing results vary. Can be stained & polished to excellent finish. USES: Suitable for furniture, joinery, domestic flooring, sporting goods, turning, paneling, plywood, veneering. SIZES: The stock is surfaced on two sides to 1 3/4" thickness by 6" and wider by 36"-96" in lengths. NOTE: Widths & lengths may vary up to 1/16" of an inch.
