DESCRIPTION: Ash heartwood is a grayish-brown, sometimes with a red tinge. It is generally straight grained and coarse, but with a smooth texture. Weight ranges from about 35lbs to 41lbs per cu. ft. COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: North America BOTANICAL NAME: Fraxinus Americana WORKING PROPERTIES: Moderate blunting effect on cutters, but can be worked fairly well with hand or power tools. Pre-drilling required for nailing in the harder Ashes. Stains, glues and polishes well. USES: White Ash is used extensively in sporting goods, bats, oars, pool cues, tool handles, cabinet work, high-class joinery, plywood, paneling and veneer. SIZES: The stock is surfaced on two sides to 1 3/4" thickness by 5" & wider by 36"-96" in lengths. NOTE: Widths & lengths may vary up to 1/16" of an inch.
