DESCRIPTION: Heartwood varies from pinkish-red to blood red & red-brown. Grain is usually straight, but many logs have a decorative moire pattern, or mottled, or even dark streaks. It's texture is uniform and fine. The wood is lustrous. The strength properties are simialr to Mahogany & White Oak. Weight is about 39lbs per cu. ft. BOTANICAL NAME: Tieghemella Heckelii OTHER NAMES: Agamokwe, African Cherry, Baku, Douka, Dumori WORKING PROPERTIES: Tends to split in nailing, but holds screws well. Glues & stains satisfactorily. USES: Furniture, cabinetwork, turning, high-class joinery, interior fittings, lab benches, marine plywood, decorative veneers. SIZES: The stock is surfaced on two sides to 13/16" thickness & kiln dried. The widths run 5"-8" & the lengths run 36"-96". The stock is figured. NOTE: Widths & lengths may vary up to 1/16" of an inch.
