DESCRIPTION: Often used as a substitute for teak, but has nice features of its own as well. Hard with interlocked to straight grain; boards tend to be fairly large & exceptionally clear. An attractive striped grain figure is very common as well. The wood is hard & heavy & excellent for strong furniture. Brownish yellow with darker streaks, or crimson-brown with bands of golden brown. COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: West & Central Africa, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon & Congo. BOTANICAL NAME: Pericopsis elata. USES: Boat building, decorative veneer, desks, cabinetry & flooring. SIZES: The stock is surfaced on two sides to 1 3/4" thickness and kiln dried. The widths run 5" & wider and the lengths run 36"-96". NOTE: Widths & lengths may vary up to 1/16" of an inch.
