Decafs and Half Caffs
All of our decafs are decaffeinated by a select all natural processing method, using pure, fresh water to extract the caffeine from the beans, which maximizes the preservation of the flavor characteristics of each origin.
This is opposed to the more common, and lesser expensive chemical decaffeination process, a method in which potentially toxic chemicals are applied to the coffee for removal of the caffeine (commonly used on the decafs found in the grocery store). We've tasted them all, then select and stock only the best of the best of the water processed decafs.
A special note: Do not be fooled, the "Swiss Water Processed" coffees are not the best tasting decafs on the market, in our most humble opinion. SWP is now only one of several BRANDS of water processed decafs. SWP held a patent at one time on the process, but the patent has since expired and others are now in the water process extraction business. We've tasted them all, and selected the best of the best of the WP decafs and provide them here for you.
Our decaf blends are created with two or more single origin decafs. This brings the best characteristics of each origin together, creating an enhanced (yet decaffeinated) flavor and aroma experience. Our 50/50's are exactly that, 50% caffeinated coffees blended with 50% decaffeinated coffees.
