Video Online Marketing for SEO, Drive Traffic, and Boost Sales

If you’re an internet retailer, you must be heavily engaged in online marketing. The main focus for quite a while has been search engine optimization and pay-per-click. Lately, social media is the craze that drives most online marketers to design new marketing strategies to hit consumers on Facebook and Twitter.

Do you have any video marketing strategies in place? In the post, “online video is second to social media for online retailers,” we touch on some key points why video online marketing has become so vital for online retailers as a form of internet marketing. The one key fact that still stands out is that 68% of the top 50 internet retailers are using video on their website.

This isn’t about using video on your website but creating videos for 3 purposes:

1) SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION: Creating videos can give you a search engine optimization boost. There are literally over 10-20 good solid authoritative video hubs online which include YouTube, Vimeo, MetaCafe, etc. These hubs not only allow you to create videos but they also let you write a description which allows you to add content related to the video and add tags which dictate which keywords are most important and relevant to that video. The search engines pick up on these tags, title, etc and index the video in the search engine. These videos can rank for a desired keyword. We’ve seen this a bunch of time.

2) DRIVE TRAFFIC: Videos can be a traffic driver to your website. How? When you upload videos to these video engines, in the description, they allow links to be put. Sure, you can’t put anchor text but the point of this is not for SEO purposes but literally to drive traffic back to your website. I would recommend to put the URL that you want to drive traffic to at the very beginning of the description of the video. This will SURELY get you some traffic.

3) BOOST SALES: Videos can have a big impact on consumers now-a-days. Take for example ZAPPOS (which we use as an example frequently here.) They are beginning to add product videos to many of their products. These videos help the consumer in the purchasing decision and gives your website a more professional aspect. Zappos isn’t the only online retailer doing this by any means, as mentioned above, 68% of the top 50 internet retailers have video on their website. It is a great selling tool and almost a must as we come into 2011.

We’ll put up a list of online video engines for you to upload your videos very soon. Stay tuned…Also we’ll have a video about this post later on ;) .
