What is Larimar?
Beautiful and rare, larimar is only found in Dominican Republic. It is an ocean and sky stone, ranging in pale hues of blue. Only discovered in 1974, larimar is named for its discoverer's daughter, Larissa and mar, the Spanish word for sea. It is associated with the lost city of Atlantis which many think is in this region of the Caribbean. Metaphysically, larimar is said to rid us of self-imposed restrictions and to bring peace.
How to Care for Larimar: Avoid using ultrasonic cleaners and steamers on larimar. Also avoid chemicals, heat and scratches. The best way to clean your piece is with some soap and warm water.
