Scott Paint Company was founded in 1965 by the Wagman
Family in a 4,500 sq.ft. factory in North Sarasota. We started with one mixing
machine, energy and determination. Four years later, we expanded and moved to
Cattlemen Road in East Sarasota. In 1988, Scott Paint acquired DPI Quality
Paints of Clearwater, Florida, doubling the size of the company and pushing
yearly production to over 1.5 million gallons. Continued growth and the need to
consolidate administrative and accounting offices with production engendered yet
another move in January 1993 to a new state-of-the-art 83,000 sq.ft. facility on
11 acres in East Sarasota. Additional growth brought our total number of stores
to 18 in 1997.
In 1998, Scott Paint Company was acquired by Ramer
Equities, Inc. of Baltimore, Maryland. Scott Paint's quality reputation,
financial strength and corporate philosophy appealed to the Ramer Family, as
they committed to expanding Scott Paint's dominant position on Florida's west
coast.
Scott Paint
continues to grow, and is stronger than ever. We now own 19 factory-direct
stores on the west coast of Florida and manufacture over two million gallons of
Florida's Best Paint every year.
